Advent Day 11-Little Tree and Gum Drop Tree

by E.E. Cummings

Activity:
Gum Drop Tree

Supplies:
styrofoam tree
pointy toothpicks
lots of gumdrops

Instructions:
  • break toothpicks in half
  • put the broken end of the toothpick into the base of the gumdrop then, beginning at the bottom of the tree, poke pointy end of toothpick into the stryofoam
  • continue putting gumdrops onto the tree until completely covered

Advent Day 10: Mooseltoe and Miniature Garland

About the book- "Moose thinks he has all his Christmas preparations taken care of, but at the last minute he must come up with a substitute for the Christmas tree."

Supplies:
assorted paper such as wrapping paper scrapbook paper
glue stick
thin string
scissors
optional cardstock for printing template

Instructions:
  • print out the template
  • trace the flag template on the paper and cut out 12 flags (for the miniature tinsel tree use size 1 on the template)
  • fold each flag in half to make a crease
  • cut a piece of twine about 11" long and place flags evenly spaced apart along the twine
  • place twine in the crease of the flag and glue flag halves together encasing the twine
  • finish gluing all the flags; knot the ends of your twine
  • decorate your little tree

Advent Day 9: Night Tree and Pinecone Ornaments

Supplies:
Pinecones
Paint- we chose red and white
Glitter- red, silver and white
Glue
Paintbrush
Bowl
Water
Freezer Paper

  • In a bowl mix 2 parts paint to one part water
  • Stir well
  • Placing pinecone into bowl brush the pinecone with your mixed paint until surfaces are covered
  • Place on freezer paper to dry completely
  • After pinecone is dry, dab glue on all the tips then sprinkle glitter
  • Set aside and let dry completely
  • After it's dried completely, tie a ribbon to the bottom and hang on tree

spool of thread

Advent Day 7: Tiny Snowflake and Popsicle Snowflakes

Popsicle Stick Snowflake Ornament

About the book- Lacy the tiny snowflake searches for her special purpose in life. Lacy soon discovers God makes everyone special and helps them to sparkle if they trust in Him.

Supplies:
4-5 popsicle sticks per ornament
wood glue
buttons
ribbon

  • Glue two popsicle sticks together to form an X
  • Glue one more popsicle stick to form a star shape
  • After glue has dried break or cut smaller pieces of stick and glue onto large sticks to form snowflake pattern
  • Let dry
  • Glue buttons onto the front of the snowflake
  • Let dry
  • Glue a ribbon hanger onto the back of the ornament
  • Let dry
  • Hang on tree
